Site notes: Genk, the ramp
The ramp reaches the old mine-gallery level, and the first visitors walk down it in hard hats.
This week the ramp's final section was poured, and the former miners on the museum's advisory group walked down it with us.
At the bottom, 9 m below the square, the original gallery wall is now exposed behind glass. One of them found his own chalk mark on it.
Opening is planned for late 2026.
